Game Jam Retrospective

<<transcript from #gamejam-forums in the discord>>

Since the game jam is almost over, I thought I'd start a sharing thread of what we liked, disliked, and learned throughout the jam. I feel like the essence of the jam is to learn and have fun even if you're a beginner or a professional.

For me, I discovered the NinePatchRect in Godot, got me hooked on making the UI on my game which I really liked. I also loved adding the sounds on my game, it really gave my game life. I learned that sounds matter a whole lot in making games and I don't really notice them much when just playing games.

I didn't like creating UI that much. Working with Godot anchors frustrated me, but at least I learned a bit about Containers. I also made the mistake of having my game full screen so I spent around 5 hours scaling it to 960x540.

I also learned about scope. I definitely underestimated how long it would take me to make all the things I wanted to make. I didn't get to do the features I really wanted to work on.

I absolutely loved seeing other people's work here in the discord. Overall, for my first game jam it was fun and a great learning experience. May join more game jams in the future!
